James Martin has uploaded a photo of his expensive-looking brown suede shoes dusted with remains of the cauliflower soup he had cooked on This Morning. The celebrity chef complained that it had got on “everything” and was even discovered behind the Christmas trees that appeared behind Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for the first time this year.

James typed: “Note to self… cauliflower soup gets everywhere, even the Christmas trees behind Holly and Phil oooooppppps.”(sic)

His fans could not help but laugh at the chef’s misfortune as they labelled the incident “hilarious”.

One said: “So funny, the best chef on telly.”

A second replied: “That has really brightened my morning.”

While a third responded: “It was hilarious though James!”

The celebrity cook had a nightmare on the programme when the cauliflower dish accidentally erupted out of the top of a food blender.

Phillip did not appear to be a fan of the dish as he remarked: “In the top of this soup, that I’ve pretty much eaten, there was a brown skid mark.”

Seeming annoyed, James retorted: “Do you know I got up at 5 o’clock in the morning to come here?”

The chef’s blender exploded after he attempted to mix the hearty winter dish in the machine.

Soup spilt everywhere over the studio leading Holly and Phil in hysterics.

She remarked: “You’re having a really good day, aren’t you? Oh, James.”

However, some viewers felt Phillip was too tough on James, with one calling in and telling him: “I think you’ve been a bit mean.”

Social media erupted with comments from viewers over the hilarious incident.

One typed: “During the first lockdown we had John Torode setting a tea towel on fire.

“During the second lockdown, we’ve had James Martin failing to put a lid on a blender properly with soup going everywhere.”

Another tweeted: “James was hilarious cooking. Just goes to show that even the best can make a mess of cooking.”

Today the show unveiled its festive display with 21 Christmas trees decorating the studio.

Holly, Phil and guest Matthew Wright were forced to flee the set at one point during the show after a light threatened to land on them.

The pair were about to talk to Matthew when a clanking spotlight started twisting around on the ceiling.

The trio were left looking nervously up at the rattling light.
