Siblings Pete and Sophie Sandiford couldn’t resist aiming a mischievous jibe at celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, 54, over his new game show, Gordon Ramsay’s Bank Balance, on tonight’s episode of Gogglebox. The star is currently unable to work in his hugely successful restaurants due to the coronavirus lockdown keeping restaurants and pubs shut.

Pete and Sophie tuned into the Michelin-starred cook’s new BBC show and shared their thoughts from their sofa on the Channel 4 programme.

When they discovered that the Hell’s Kitchen presenter, who usually fronts cooking shows, had made a move into hosting his own game show, they quipped that his new project was prompted by the pandemic restricting his career.

Pete groaned: “Ugh, you can tell the restaurants are shut!”

His little sister Sophie agreed, replying: “Yeah exactly!

“He’s taking anything now Gordon, isn’t he?”

Pete then joked: “He’s on furlough and doing a bit of game show work as a backhander!”

“Disgusting,” Sophie quipped in response.

Despite their criticism, after a dramatic moment on Gordon’s new game show aired, Pete and Sophie seemed gripped and worried for the nervous contestants.

Gordon’s prime time show sees him guide gamers to answer questions in a bid to win the programme’s £100,000 jackpot.

The contestants also face an additional challenge, as they have to balance a series of “gold bars” on a wobbling platform.

The more bars that contestants can successfully balance, the more chance they have of taking a big cash prize home.

However, the more bars that are added to the board, the more unstable it becomes.

Elsewhere, Pete stunned fans by confirming that he is engaged to his girlfriend Paige Yeomans during tonight’s instalment of Gogglebox.

The 26-year-old shared that he would soon be a husband while speaking to Sophie on the series debut of the hit Channel 4 show.

He made the revelation when Sophie said: “Do you feel any different now that you’ve got engaged?”

“Yeah, I think,” he replied.

“I feel like an even bigger responsibility. I don’t know why. I’m going to have a wife.”

“Yes, you’re going to have a wife,” Sophie agreed.

Pete went Instagram official with his now-fiancee back in October last year as the pair posed for a cosy selfie.

He later shared another photo of himself and his partner alongside his sister, captioning the picture: “My Mrs and best mate what more could I ask for, don’t worry @sophiesandiford1 you are a close second best friend.”
