Lady Gaga‘s Chromatica Oreos are officially a hit!
The pop-star’s limited edition branded Oreos, which are inspired by her latest album, have gone viral. Fans have been posting their reactions to the collaboration and documenting the lengths they’ve gone to get their hands on the cookies across social media.
Oreo’s senior director Justin Parnell told Variety, “It’s been incredible and beat our wildest expectations.”
“After the lockdown, the world was in dire need of playfulness and a release from all of the stress and anxiety,” Justin continued. “It was like, ‘What if we really leaned into music as a way to connect to people and spread more positivity?’”
Oreo’s team worked very closely with Lady Gaga, her manager Bobby Campbell, and Interscope Records and Universal Music in order to create the green and pink cookies.
“We wanted all the right perspectives and points of view to make sure it was coming off in the best way possible,” Justin explained. The goal was to “craft every element so it felt authentic.”
This involved a release that was “treated like a shoe drop”, creating four distinct designs for the cookies and the company becoming an official sponsor of Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way Foundation.
Justin also added, “Personally, one of the best parts was the experience of working with Lady Gaga and her team. She is such a genuine, vulnerable and kind person. To see how important her fans and doing good in the world is to her, it made us all feel great about the collective impact we can have together.”
