Chloe Sims has opened up on why she thinks The Only Way Is Essex producers chose to keep some stars over others.

TOWIE faced a mass cull ahead of its new series as the show announced the series would be "evolving with some changes" and a number cast members were axed.

Courtney Green, Chloe Meadows, Harry Derbidge, Clelia Theodorou, Tom McDonnell, Harry Lee and Kelsey Stratford were all axed by bosses earlier this year in a huge shakeup.

And now, as the new series sets to air on Sunday 12 September on ITVBe at 9pm, one of the show's remaining stars Chloe, 39, has revealed the reasons she believes are behind the huge shakeup.

She said: "I think it’s how open you are and need to be. I don't think the difference between the cast who have left and the cast who have stayed is anything to do with being legends. I think it's how much you’re willing to share; how raw you're willing to be.

"A lot of the cast who have left had private relationships off TOWIE and that doesn't really work because you have to share everything. I’ve been an open book and shared the ups and all the downs – and there’s been a lot of them."

Chloe also shared that she knew she wouldn't have been amongst the sacked stars and was confident she would continue to appear in the series.

When asked if we was nervous about getting the chop from TOWIE, Chloe laughed and told The Sun: "Of course not. I knew I was coming back. I’m Chloe Sims. You’re joking. I’ve been here for 11 years. I wasn’t scared about the cull, let’s put it that way."

The past decade has seen Chloe go through some ups and downs on the show and the star had her heartbroken in public on a number of occasions as her romances with Dan Edgar, Pete Wicks and Elliot Wright featured as storylines on the show.

But, Chloe has revealed she will be cautious the next time around and will keep her romance under wraps until the timing is right.

She said: "I’m single as it stands, but I just said to TOWIE that I feel like moving forward any romance I’d only share it if it was really serious.

"I feel like in the past I’ve rushed and told everyone everything on my mind and it goes wrong."
